Client: The University of Iowa
HBK Engineering, LLC provided the field analysis and design of upgrades and emergency repairs to a critical steam line system to the University of Iowa Boyd Law Building facility.  The existing system was in danger of immediate failure and HBK worked on an expedited schedule with the University design personnel to come up with a creative and effective solution for the steam feed issue.
Project involved re-design of the steam system piping and vault structures. It also included mechanical design of piping and vault components, structural concrete, electrical system, plumbing and ventilation for the structures.  The existing receiving pit in the law building basement had to be structurally altered to provide a creative solution minimizing downtime to the critical facility and on an expedited schedule to be accomplished during the Summer recess.
