HBK joined WEN Chicago’s annual Holiday Mixer on December 12th. The 2018 Board of Directors were introduced and outgoing President Sherina Maye Edwards shared stories of how she became a prominent leader in the Energy industry.
HBK Chicagoland offices showed their holiday spirit this month gathering toys at every office for Chicago Commons Toy drive. Over 100 toys were collected and donated this morning. Thank you to all the HBK employees who participated in the drive.

On Wednesday, December 6th HBK Employee Frank Bedtke attended the Lunch and Learn: Construction Contracts presented by Underground Contractors Association of Illinois. The morning included a seminar dedicated to understanding contracts. Both speakers discussed best practices for implementing a Contractual risk Transfer Policy and Program.
On Thursday December 7th, Chicago Children’s Theatre hosted Unplugged & Uncorked benefit at the City Winery in the West loop. Proceeds will support access to the theatre arts for underserved communities in Chicago. The night featured The Plain White T’s band, auction items, and wine. HBK is a proud sponsor of the Chicago Children’s Theatre.
Last night HBK attended its first HACIA holiday party as members of the organization. “Hispanic American Construction Industry Association (HACIA) works to ensure the equitable participation of its constituents in the construction industry, while also promoting the growth, quality of work, professionalism and integrity of these individuals and businesses. ” HBK became a member this year.
Spry Elementary School is located in the Little Village area of Chicago. Today our employees visited the school, amongst other professionals in various careers, to present and share their perspectives about their career path. Students rotated between classrooms and spent time learning about skills and qualities like self-management, relationships and communication, and the importance of goal setting. Norristown and Philadelphia Offices collected non perishable food for the 93.3 WMMR’s Campout for Hunger benefiting Philabundance. It’s the largest single donation food drive in the country. Philabundance is the region’s largest hunger relief organization, serving more than 90,000 people per week — 30% of whom are children and 15% are seniors. HBK Employee Emily Bujnowski volunteered to collect all donations. Both offices had a total of 113lbs
