On Wednesday, February 6th HBK’s Women’s Affinity group “Strive” hosted an in house goal setting workshop for finding one’s “True North” in 2019. “True North” for this event signifies an internal compass that drives you towards a successful life. Attendees shared their goals on a vision board with fellow participants and explored motivations to become stronger, more successful professional leaders.
On Saturday, February 2nd HBK attended the annual Gigi’s Playhouse Gala, the largest and most important fundraiser for Gigi’s Playhouse throughout the year. Gigi’s Playhouse is an organization that provides programming for children with Down syndrome and support for their families. What began as a single Chicago-suburb based location has now expanded to over 36 locations providing necessary programming and support across the U.S. and
HBK Executive Leadership visited St. Ignatius on January 23rd to serve on a panel of guest judges for student product pitches. As part of an Entrepreneurial class, Ignatius students create a product or service and pitch it to business owners and Ignatius Alumni for support and feedback on their plans. HBK was proud to support such a worthwhile opportunity for possible up-and-coming business leaders!
HBK employees spent the weekend volunteering at AON’s 22nd annual Step Up For Kids event presented by KPMG. Volunteers facilitated over 1,750 participants climb 80 floors to the top of the AON Center while raising over $686,400 for the patients and families of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Thank you to all our volunteers that helped make such an incredible IMPACT!
HBK attended the January Legislative Reception & Dinner for the DuPage Mayors & Managers Conference to discuss the Conference’s legislative priorities for 2019. The Conference serves to promote excellence in municipal government, evaluate the impact of pending legislation, and support intergovernmental cooperation. This particular event featured a presentation of the Conference’s initiatives for the year and offered attendees an opportunity to share their thoughts.
On Thursday, January 17th HBK attended the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce State of the Village Luncheon at Bolingbrook Gold Club. This year, Roger C. Claar, Mayor of the Village of Bolingbrook served as the keynote speaker while attendees networked with local, regional, statewide, and national business and civic leaders.

Our HBK offices in Iowa, Pennsylvania, and Maryland put on a Holiday Food Drive benefitting local organizations, Philadelphia’s Philabundance and the Iowa City Crisis Center, during the month of December resulting in over 150lbs+ donated to local shelters! Donations will benefit each organization in order to provide support for countless individuals in need. Thank you to everyone who donated and spread the holiday spirit!

On Wednesday, December 5th HBK hosted a Job Shadow Day for a group of students from Chicago Public School’s Career and Technical Education program. The students spent the morning working side by side with our employees, while gaining experience to help them make their next steps in their educational and professional journey.
On Sunday, December 16th, HBK employees handed out hats, scarves, blankets, and other winter necessities to groups of homeless individuals in the Chicago Loop area. The employees, along with family and friends, handed out items donated at our HBK Oak Brook office over the past few weeks and were able to gift items to over 60 people. On Saturday, December 9th, HBK employees spent the morning wrapping presents and spreading Christmas cheer! We joined forces with other locals in the area at the Tinley Park Police Department to wrap gifts for families in need this holiday season. On Saturday, December 8th, HBK attended and sponsored the JDRF One Dream Gala and their mission to turn Type One to Type None. Proceeds from the evening went towards funding valuable research and treatment options for the over 30 million people living in the US with Type One Diabetes.
