HBK Executive Don Kleyweg spoke on a panel during the Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council (OMSDC) event on August 14th. The event, Bringing Energy Opportunities to Light!, focused on discussion relating to avenues of opportunity for MBE’s in the energy space.
HBK joined contractors, engineering firms, and other colleagues for HACIA’s 31st Annual Golf Outing. The outing took place at Silver Lakes Country Club in Orland Park. HBK was proud to network with over 300 HACIA members and construction-related industry professionals for a beautiful day on the course.
Joey’s Angels is dedicated to raising money to find better treatments and hopefully one day a cure for blood cancers. HBK is proud to support Joey’s Angels 17th annual Angels in the Fairway golf outing that took place at the Grand Geneva Resort and Spa.

On Friday, July 27th HBK spent the morning with WOW! at the 12th Annual ILSWA Charity Golf Outing benefiting Misericordia and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The ILSWA, otherwise known as the Illinois State Wireless Association, promotes the wireless industry by raising awareness and strengthening relationships between the wireless industry and community leaders.
HBK joined Catholic Charities and 400 fellow golfers for a day of golf at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club in Lemont. This year marks the 21st Annual Monsignor Michael Boland Golf Invitational! Dinner, raffles and silent and live auctions followed in the evening, all proceeds benefited Catholic Charities Family Stabilization Efforts.
On Monday, July 23rd, HBK enjoyed a day of golfing for the arts at Bull Valley Golf Club. All proceeds from this event go straight to Raue Center’s, Mission Imagination, their flagship education program, with over 25,000 kids participating every year. The Raue Center for the Arts has now served more than 400,000 children since opening our doors and it continues to grow.
On Sunday, July 22nd was the first corporate sponsor of the Day at the Ballpark for Misericordia at the Kane County Cougars Game. The day featured baseball, a picnic, KidZone play area, silent auction and family fun! The event raised $30,000 in support of over 600 residents that call Misericordia home.
On Wednesday, July 18th, HBK attended the annual DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference Golf Outing at Seven Bridges Golf Club. The DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to addressing municipal public policy issues while also promoting excellence and intergovernmental cooperation. On Friday, July 13th, seven HBK volunteers spent their morning at the Girls in the Game Sport and Leadership Summer Camp. Volunteers split up into two teams and helped the girls learn about nutrition and the fundamentals of soccer and kickball. On Wednesday, July 11th, HBK joined WEN Chicago and Tammy Hughes with the Heim Group for a Gender Speak Workshop. The workshop addressed the central factors that drive gender-related communication problems, while emphasizing the importance of men and women valuing each other’s strengths.
From June 15 – June 29 HBK participated in the Active Transport Alliance’s 2018 Bike to Work Challenge. The Active Transport Alliance is a “coalition of people who work to make biking and walking safe and easy transit options for getting around Chicagoland”. HBK had a team of 21 riders who logged a total of 1,275 miles with 4 riders individually contributing over 80 miles.
