National Volunteer Week


National Volunteer Week is a yearly week of recognition for the many, many people in the U.S. and Canada who give generously of their time and resources to a huge variety of causes. In the United States, Nixon established National Volunteer Week in 1974.  The week is used to bring awareness to the contributions of volunteers and to encourage more people to donate their time to a local, national, or global cause.

HBK understands the importance of supporting and giving back to the communities around us.  Through HBK IMPACT, our employee volunteer program, employees were given the opportunity to participate in a volunteer day across all offices. Below are the events that tool place:

HBK’s Norristown office kicked off National Volunteer Week participating in the

Valley Forge Revolutionary Run:

On April 23, 2017 for the third year in a row, members of HBK’s Philadelphia area offices and The Roderick Group participated in the Revolutionary 5-mile Run at Valley Forge National Park.  Proceeds from the run benefit improvements at Valley Forge National Park.  Nearly 1000 people participated in the run/walk raising $50,000 to fund improvements to Valley Forge National Historic Park.  Thanks to all who participated and represented HBK and our teammates in the race and at the exposition.  HBK encourages everyone to get outside and enjoy our National Parks!

HBK’s Oak Brook office volunteers at  ChildServ’s Group home out in Naperville

The HBK Oak Brook office got to show off their green thumb and their painting skills while working on a beautification project at one of ChildServ’s group homes in Naperville.

HBK’s Iowa City office joins Terry Trueblood for outdoor clean up

Volunteers in our Iowa offices teamed up with West Branch School students at the Terry Trueblood Recreation Area. Activities included weeding, mulching, and general park clean up. This was a great opportunity to give back to the community and mentoring local students.

HBK’s Chicago Offices jump into “Girls In the Game” , GAME DAY!

Our support services team participated in Game Day with Girls in the Game. The volunteers joined the girls in two sports rotations and one health/leadership rotation.
